Art Meme 2003 - 2009

I thought I would make an art meme, finally. This one actually seemed important.

Anyways, basically all I have to say is thank you all so much for sticking with me and helping me progress with art. It really means a lot.





PLEASE READ if you care to stick with me in the years to come.

I'm going to go even more in depth about these years:


2003
I was making art on the computer perhaps a year or so before this, but in MS paint. I later found out about paint shop pro 8, and that's the medium I used to create the images there.

I made a lot of fan art by DIRECT REFERENCE. Whenever anyone asked me how I learned the styles I have, I answer simply, "Copy art." Be it drawing from the image itself, or tracing. I didn't trace anything, ever, but if you need to step to that level to get comfortable with the styles you want: PLEASE DO SO!! Don't let pride get in the way of progression.


2004
I never dealt with so many trolls in my life. Oddly, the more I had, the stronger my following became. Haha. But I did my best to limit their face time with me, so I started working on more original/random characters, as opposed to fan art.


2005
I finally got comfortable with CGing. I ONLY used Open canvas this year, and the time surrounding it. I was huge on drawing cute anime girls.
Since I was now comfortable, I took on commissions. The third image in this year, is still one of my favorite and most treasured pieces, for a few reasons.


2006
This year I only did commissions. It limited my creativity, but paid for what my parents never would. Since then, I haven't had much time to make art for myself. I'm not complaining, but its just something I long to do again.


2007
Clearing it up: every image was made in High School. The final one, though, was made for a college, and took almost a month to do, with planning, etc. I failed with composition on it, so I cropped a part of the overall image.
I was feeling down on my luck with my art, because suddenly my progression started to slow, and I wondered if I reached my limit, artistically. The second image there represents a part of me that liked me stuff. The other part was unfulfilled and wanted to get even better, but could not.


2008
Most of what I created were for my college classes. I started to respect other styles of art a little bit more, and thus turned to sketches and realism.


2009
Crippled without my tablet, I worked on my college work, and part time job, and commissions (sketch and full color). I was extremely busy, and had problems left and right (explained in my youtube video made for new years).
2009 was tough, but I still made enough pieces within it to be proud


And now, I can't wait to get started on my final year of art before turning professional. Stay with me, deviants. I would not have progressed digitally without the help from this site. The inspirations. The comments. Everything helped, and I can't tell you how grateful I am.

So, again, stay with me, at least one more year. It's going to be a bumpy, utterly-ridiculous ride.
